i agree it's kinda annoying, but try looking at it this way. it is easily ignored (doesn't get in the way of hitting the chat window for example like the heyzap thing every time you try to multitask your apps) and advertising provides money for the salaries of the people who provide PL and SL for free (i know some stages cost plat in PL, at least i think they still do, no expansions have costed any plat in SL) to those who don't have the means to pay a monthly fee.

I really dont like the new advertisements.

The tips I agree on and think they are a great idea. The adverts are too intrusive and get in the way of the game in the background too. Again someting STS is hopefully testing, and they will see feedback and hopefully switch it back - or come up with less intrusive designs, which is why the tips work so well.
