Getting xp at lvl 45?

Ok I noticed this a couple min after I hit 45...So I was playing and every time we killed a guy it would show the xp+ sign above your head signifying that your getting xp but....your at the lvl cap how was I getting more xp? I wasn't actually getting xp it was just showing the little sign above my head....Idk if this is meant to be that or not just telling you guys in case its not sposed to like that.....Thanks!

you dont accualy get xp, the sign just comes up to show you that if you kill that mummy/sandperson it will count towards your kill counter.

I've heard people say that as well, but it doesn't make sense to me. A real kill counter would tell you that you actually got a kill. The XP is not only misleading, but it also only tells you that someone got a kill, not who. It's kinda dumb if you ask me...
