Sending a PM to the moderator will only work if the mod is online :p, in this forum devs and mods are VERY busy.
So, there is a very simple way to get their attention:
Call your friends and guild-mates, ask them to create a ruckus on the thread you like to be closed. This will also enable other people (who dont have a life) to add posts that adds no value to the subject (or their existence).
Then send a PM to every mod/dev to point towards this out of control massive pile of rainbows.

lol. While Genius' suggestion would probably be effective, I would recommend reporting your own post and asking for it to be closed. I miss a lot of PMs, but I always check the reports, so feel free to do it that way. <3
