spacetime loves to drop references to things in the media or internet culture. the npc in kraag is spouting comic book and movie quotes, so im gonna guess this is a reference to the hitchhiker's guide to the universe.
a supercomputer is asked the answer to life's ultimate questions and the answer is-
42

pure nerd speculation

otherwise if you multiply it by ten its something else that Barron can answer you about after he checks your I.D.

Lol I'm well established in 4/20 ;) that was one of the things I thought of :)

The hitchhiker's theory is a good one though.

Yea the 42(0) and the fact that the location's high up the clouds could mean just that XD
Devs just being subtle about it due to legilty reasons me thinks ;)

why the number '42' on the Airship Location?
42 is the atomic number of molybdenum which is used to produce aircraft parts, because it can withstand extreme temperatures without significantly expanding or softening

My theory is it is the 4th main location that stays around all year and it costs 200 plat. 42 without the 0's.

The 1st airship that was introduced with FBW control systems was called GA-42.
Also, the latest and largest airship model American Blimp Corporation is currently working on is called Spector 42.

so...

As Stephen say it is probably a reference to "the hitchhiker's guide to the universe"

But Ebe theory is really good too, molybdenum is also the 42nd most common element in the universe,

and also Buzz Lightyear’s spaceship in Toy Story is named 42

but here is what many people think about the 42 in the hitchhiker's guide to the universe(even if the author say he have pick a random number)

42 in ASCII = *

* = In computer programming the asterisk (*) is a symbol that represents a wildcard, a variable input by the end user and not by the computer program. The asterisk can mean literally anything. What you need to take from this is that, as the end user, the asterisk/variable gains the meaning you give it.

42 = life is what you make of it

42 can be often found in Lewis' Carrol works like Alice in Wonderland due to him actually being a mathematician also claiming that 42 was an astrological and numerical answer to everything, life and death included.

or it could be from NOF#20115 aka Field #42 in Laguna Larga, TX

there is also airstrip 41 and 42 at the Groom lake Nevada test site (AKA area 51)
