Contest Brainstorming Thread!

Hello everyone!

We need everyone help. I know many people have been asking for more contests! Well here is your chance to make some suggestions...

What other contests can we do that will be fun? We are trying to gather some ideas.... Be creative and have fun with it!

Think of a number 1-1000 for 150 plat! Each person has two guesses? Jk, this is a boring contest, I have no ideas. :/

How about a lottery, here is how it should go. Download lottery number generator, numbers from 1-100 each person picks 3 numbers. The lottery ends at the end of the week and then the other lottery starts the next day and on and on. Hope you like this idea :-)

I have 2 contest ideas.

1. In this contest, contestants will think of a cool contest. :D

2. In this contest, contestants will write about a cool campaign.

We had video contests in the past, so why not photo contests? We could have different themes related to pl/sl or not. Photos r less complicated to make than video, faster also.

A great way would be an in game thing. There is a quest you need to do in pl and sl, and you need to do is find 10 artefacts from Alien Oasis Mob Bosses. The first 3 people to get these artefacts get 30 plat each. you turn it in in AO town.
What do you guys think?
Another one could be a forum contest. I don't have time to write anything here now- school. Ill edit this thread later.

Edit: Codies idea about design a vanity is another cool idea.

there was a really cool story contest that was hosted but never judged as the person who held it went MIA. I'll link it here when I find it

edit: rules were simple enough. under 500 word story about PL, no vulgarity. I'll link it for the fact that it was not my idea (and some of these were pretty funny) although I do miss the OP, hope he comes back soon :-(

perhaps this can now be extended into SL, so that it could be made into 2 contests, an SL story and a PL story

Shame this is SL.

Drawings/Design contests are not exactly fair to all members some do not have an art'sy bone in their body.

If your going to do a contest then make sure its easy accessible to all members.

I am also very unartistic, but i know there are other areas that i excel in better than others, so nothing is going to be completely fair. With that said, i also vote for a non-drawing/non-design contest

I wonder if anything artistic can be done as a team contest? Like make it something that involves all different talents.

Teams of...say 4.
1 artist - does all the photoshop
1 designer - does the layout and construction with what the artist makes
1 writer - writes the storylines, scripts, whatever
1 "leader" - organizes everyone's duties, make sure things get done. Makes executive decisions.

Give an overall task and freedom to do whatever project best describes the goal.
Could have people sign up for what task they'd wish to do, and then pair people up at random.

Give a prize to everyone who enters because of the random team mechanics (something like a vanity) and a separate prize to the winners (most creative, best overall, whatever categories).


Just an idea...I'd like to see more team contests. Encourage teamwork over individual skill. I know there's some people I have bad blood with that I would like to work with constructively to fix any forum-related issues.

What about a star legends movie contest? Players can write a script and then act it out in the game like a movie. Then whichever player has the best movie wins! :eagerness:

yeah like a 25 person onslaught against a really tough boss. Wont effect our kills/deaths (some people would complain) and would require us to work together, as well as interact wth the developers in another way besides on the forum and in blackstar just talking.

How about a story contest? People can write their own story about something that has never been explained in PL, like how Alterra was established or where the aliens of Oasis came from and why. Or the same sort of thing for SL (not sure which this is for, I'm on mobile). I think it would be really interesting to read all the stories.

EDIT: How about a story contest that links SL to PL? (i.e. the Warfather was actually the Galactic Overlord. His race was being overtaken by the Vular and he fled to another world, Alterra, to start anew there...)

Pretty sure no one mentioned this here. We could have a contest to name the new campaign and name the what the next epic(or legendary) sets are. Then the sts team would chose which is the best and give winner x amount of play and maybe the full custom of the new set when it comes out =) I would love to see this. You would have to say which class it would be for and why that name.(so u could make 3 contests for 3 classes) =)

In-game skavenger hunt. Find items... you don't know what they will be but they will be all over SL. There will be 10 items. The items have names... ex... Skavenger Hunt- (Item name)
The items can be hidden in townes. Anywhere. But not maps because not everyone can access higher level maps. Then the first three to find all of items PM Delph. And get 30 plat each!

I think never been mentioned before, how about guild fight? Like something similar to capture the flag smash and grab but instead of flag they gonna work side by side to protect something (can be anything in game, e.g. tower, hostage, etc) so the team who destroy / kill one after another win! and because this event probably not even possible yet in SL (need dev to create one room) probably just don't mind about it. ^.^
