Help a Newbie Bear

I started this bear a few dyas ago, so i'm learning about bears and i'm fu***** liking ;P.
But i have a doubt about which weapon to use. I have an axe that gives me good damage but DPS goes high and a sword with middle damage e and good DPS.
And please explain me the difference about this two tipes of 1h weapons.

You want to go with the axe. It provides higher base damage which will increase the damage output of your skills.

Swords generally add a higher portion of their base dmg to your skill dmg as compared to axes. So, generally, even with lower base dmg, the sword should actually give you higher skill dmg as compared to the axe. I don't think the difference will be that high though.

Edit: I had these weapons in my stash, so quickly did a test... The sword adds a measly 2 min dmg and 3 max dmg to your skills as compared to the axe.

So yeah, not much difference. Personally I'd choose the sword, because of the added stats besides the dmg :)

DPS is quite a difference, 26 dps higher for an axe. Just as jaytb said, sword only gives an extra 2-3 more damage in skills so i would go for the axe.
