Happy Lunar New Year!

The festivities return this year with some updates as new as the year itself! Event runs from 1/16 to 2/6 with a 3 day cooldown.

Backstory
The good people of Vardan Valley were all set to join the Lunar New Year festivities in Brackenridge when along came Kil'Joy the Goblin. Kil'Joy the Goblin, enemy of joy, a confirmed master of disguise, appeared to the villagers in the visage of a feeble old merchant driving an immense empty wagon. He drove is big rickety wagon to the center of town, interrupting the Mayor's 'Lunar New Year' address to the townsfolk (which is mostly about how to avoid injury on the long walk to Brackenridge).

Kil'Joy's illusory 'dying old man' begged the villagers to load their firecrackers and rat pets and red envelopes onto his wagon. He too was heading for Brackenridge to celebrate the new year. But he was alone. Lonely and unwanted. Without family. Without a purpose - this joyful celebration would surely be his last.

"Let me take part in your joy. Fill my wagon that I may help you on your journey. Please? Let my life have purpose... one last time," he groveled with tears welling up in his ancient eyes.

"Fine," said the Mayor. "That's just fine. You know it is a very long road and a whole lot to carry."

The smitty nodded sternly and bellowed, "Aye! Surely this good and wise old man isn't going to steal from us."

"Yes!" the tavern maid sung in agreement. "It's been nearly a full year since we've had even the slightest whiff of trouble. Let's do it!"

And so they did! The villagers of Vardan Valley loaded their wares upon the old man's wagon. Every egg, every envelope, every painted mask, every shining Arcanite vanity and shoved it aboard the old man's wagon. "See ya at the Tavern," the old man cackled as he drove off. "Happy New Year... suckers!"

It didn't take that long for the people of Vardan Valley to realize that they had been scammed. So they sent their Sheriff to track down Kil'Joy (and get help from Arlorian heroes if necessary).


What's New This Year


+Similar to other events this year, you'll need to grab a Kil'Joy Hunter's Elixir from Sheriff Qian for 5,000 gold for a chance to spawn Kil'Joy.

+ A limited number of Massive Crates of the Metal Rat will be available in the store, with a chance to loot new Arcane Weapons, the Arcane Armored Zhulong pet, and more!

+ Speaking of Arcane Weapons, the final weapons in the Death Engine set will be available during this event, including the daggers, rifle and aegis!

+ Some of the new pet eggs this year will be available in the store for a limited time.



+ Pearcy the Mythic Armored Rat's egg will be available Jan 17-19.

+ New Arcane Dragons: Armored Zhulong, Shenlong, and Fuzanglong's eggs will be available Jan 24-26 and again on Jan 31st - Feb 2.

+ All store eggs are limited quantities. Shenlong and Fuzanglong can only be purchased from the Store and will not be available as drops.




+ We've fixed a few bugs from last year, including Kil'Joy slaying low level players in a way that he really shouldn't be able to. His name is Kil'Joy, not Kil'Players.

+ The Lunar New Year Event will run for a festive three (3) weeks starting this Thursday! Get cool new vanity items, pets and more!

+ Sheriff Qian of Vardan Valley will appear in towns and ask for help tracking down Kil'Joy the Goblin.

+ Seek out Kil'Joy the Goblin during the event and loot him for Red Envelopes and firecrackers, including two brand new styles: Fortune Fountain and Mythic Mortar

+ You can also complete Sheriff Qian's daily quest to find Kil'Joy to earn an additional ten (10) Red Envelopes.

+ You can spend your Red Envelopes to buy event items from the Sheriff. These include new vanity Dragon masks, firecrackers and Geng, Pearcy and Robbin Pets (not the eggs).

+ Higher level encounters with Kil'Joy mean a chance to loot more expensive fireworks, vanity dragon masks and rat pet (Geng, Robbin) eggs.

+ At Level 60 and above, Kil'Joy has a chance to drop the Locked Crate of the Metal Rat which contains Level 76 Arcane Death Engine weapons (including the new Aegis, Rifle and Daggers), Level 76 Mythic Lunar Rings, Mythic Rat Pearcy's Egg and Arcane Armored Zhulong's Egg.

No. Timur was part of last year's event (2019 The Year of the Pig). Only the 2020 Year of the Rat pets are available during this event.

No. Timur was part of last year's event (2019 The Year of the Pig). Only the 2020 Year of the Rat pets are available during this event.

Please increase rifle process time... Imagine you play mage with rifle and it didn't last enough to kill anything even with Dot.. Duggar now has DoT and have longer process time....

Kil'Joy is meant to be tough - if you're worried about it, don't run with the elixir that spawns him (or with other players using it). Safest would be to run in party mode without it, so you know you have fresh zones that won't spawn him.

I'm feeling these crates have a particularly bad drop rate :/ I regularly open many many crates & I've never had where I've looted not a single usable thing, until now. I think I'll not be trying any more this event. Its starting to feel like when ebon weapons first came & were so rare it caused much imbalance to game.

I have a question regarding armoured zhulongs HB. I read somewhere from a dev that elite damage is boss damage, therefore is zhulongs boss damage 40% i.e 20% elite + 20% boss. Or have I totally understood it wrong.

U probably got it wrong, what the dev must mean is that elite dmg counts as extra dmg bonus on every creature on elite mode including bosses while Boss dmg works only on bosses, whether be elite or regular ones.

The blessings with the exact same type and amount refresh the duration rather than stacking. If the amount or type is different, they stack.
