Do mages need bd% sets?

Mages go for int% awakes for higher damage, but is getting a boss dmg% set needed at all for mages? (When running red portals/events) I’m new to the mage class, so I’m not that sure about these kinds of stuffs. Anyone can advice me on what I need to know? Cheers.

I have 100% boss damage in elite valley with skrach gun and staff, but if my ebon armor don’t proc, I don’t see big difference.
In the beginning of play evg I was have only 20%bd, but again the ebon armor +skrach gun was the best super kill.
If you can have +boss damage is good but not so really important.

About the big intelligent stats my opinion is : you don’t need the intel stat to be so high(1200-1400 is good), better to have more balance stats and much str (350-400)for more damage absorbing from the arcane shield and bigger health.
You only benefit from more intel in bonus damage stat, the mana given from more intel not matter, health you get so little.
If you can have ebon armor + mythic set inter or buried (mixt better) + skrach gun (the skrach staff is optional for me in there), the too much multiply of your damage amount you gain, makes you forget about your actually damage stat.
The staff is only good mobs and low lvl bosses, in the team play in evg , the tank clean the mobs,Mage and rogue attacking spiders, in the end all attack’s boss.
