My roommate just got a Droid 2. Apparently it might've been on Verizon's network but crossed over to Metro. His mom said she paid for all the plans' requirements. Since it was originally a VZW phone, I tried to program it the old way, by dialing #228, but it couldn't, saying your provider may have blocked this function.

So what happened? I can call and text on it, but I can't use internet. Is there a different way to program the phone?

So they flashed it to Metro? Why not just get the new Droid on Metro or the HTC ($250 one)?

It's most likely cause of the flash. You might want to go to Metro and get it checked out. Could be a problem with the old plan it had, or maybe the sim card.

Or go into settings, data manager, and make sure data is enabled :)

Couldn't be that easy, I know, but it's worth a shot.

If you can call & text on it, you don't need to #228 program it. That's a Vzw function. Won't work on Metro.

Vzw Droid 2 doesn't have sim cards. Only Vzw 4g phones have Sims.

Well that's good to know.

So then no sim, hmm. It can still be a problem with the flashing of the phone to a different company.

Maybe its just BC of that. The no stores in Florida reason could be it. Most likely not tho. Do as Battle said, call their tech support, they're pretty good and they'll solve it quick.

Yeah... everything is on. But i'm thinking since there's no metro pcs stores around here, there's no metro pcs towers to provide internet.

It could be the reason, but if you can text and call why wouldn't it let you use the internet? Thats what bugs me, can you use wifi?

Yeah he can use wifi. I have a verizon tower right in front of my house, but I think its only for call/text reception. I always have 4-5 bars
