Explaination about the lag

Hello,

I work at a datacenter and manage about 700 servers. Mostly linux. What i was wondering is why the hell does the game lag so bad from time to time. Even when u play over wifi it sometimes is verry bad.

Could an admin post what they have for hardware now and connections. I might be able to arange something nice.

well i live in australia and the lag is freakin rediculous but when i went to america on holidays i stayed in texas were Spacetime Studios is located and i had no lag at all.... *dreams i could move to texas*

I am in the states over wi-fi ipad and also iPhone 4 (over 3G). iPhone gets some general lag, but the iPad sometimes gets these lag spikes, where the ping is at 85 normally, then will shoot up to over 10000 (10 seconds) then go back to normal. Really frustrating.

Jeez...80....sounds nice :P. I play on a iphone 3g and most of the time when I'm on 3g or wi-fi my ping is around 150-250 but randomly it will spike to maybe 6k and then back down to about 400 and eventually settle down to the 150-250 range. However, some days it will stay around 300-400, so it isn't very consistent, to me at least.

Exactly same thing with me. EXACTLY. Doesnt ure batery go down in 40-60 mins?

If I'm on 3g it sadly does die in an hour or two, I haven't taken an exact timing of it but It is very fast. A lot of the time when I'm on wifi I put my phone in airplane mode and it extends the battery life significantly.

Instead of Airplane mode, try edge mode. I have heard it is much better on the battery compared to 3G, and is a compromise so you can at least get calls.

Have you turned off notification services? That can cause a spike if you get an email or some program tries to send you a message.

I live in Idaho, have pretty good internet, and it hardly ever lags for me. :) (I do have a really good router though)

Normally I have a pretty good ping.. 100 etc

But sometimes I also get the ping spikes that go all the up to 9000.. It happened when we were about to fight a boss... not a good situation lol

h8 to ruin it, but my ping never goes over 100 :D
