1. Be polite- Everyone likes a polite forum community member.

2. Be helpful- Often, helping others results in personal gratitude.

3. Post reliable and correct content- Posting false content can get people to go off you, so post content that benefits everyone.

4. Have a good attitude to the forums- Dont come on the forums with a bad attitude, come on with a smile!

5. Report innapropriate posts or private message a moderator about it.

6. Use as much information as you can- posts with hardly any information can be more annoying and repetitive.

7. Check through the forums before you post something. It might have already been said!

That's really you need to know, so please comment on this guide. Im pleased I wrote this guide because it may help a lot of new members who need more help!

Edit: Updated points 5-7.

Be informative.... Point people towards other posts or support pages, with the answers.

Don't fed the trolls. If someone makes a rude or insulting post, just report using the red triangle below each post. (I've been known to forget this, so must remember in future)

Don't reiterate what was already said in a thread. That's called post boosting
Don't say helpful things for the sake of thanks/rep points.
Forums isn't a popularity contest; don't post on nearly every single thread for the sake of post count to get your name out there. That's just annoying.

Edit: this is not directed to anyone! It's just to be added to the OP's list

These are pretty universal guidelines. I was directed to these rules by a couple of my online college professors.
Let me know if these seem off track, because Ive been using them as reference, thanks.

Are none of you going to give skeleton credit for even spending the time to write this?...

No reason to troll him for doing a good job.

Thanks for your comment! I wrote it with one reason in mind. That reason is to provide new members with a quick understanding of the forums, and what to do.

Does anyone notice how people that made forums account like 5 months after you made yours have like 1000 posts more than you?

Lol, I wasn't referring to this thread or any specific person with my comment. It was for you to add it onto your list, not directed towards you.

No need to point fingers, adida :(. He's bringing awareness on the subject at least.

sometimes we all forget the "thanks" button or the "report" button when we see something so interesting we forget all about it -_-
