Maybe try go to settings your phone setting >notifications and see if tapatalk notifications is enable

Did you even try to reinstall the app? I don't know what's causing it, but this has to fix it, i guess.

the people who message me are in the envelope looking tab, next to the bell. are they not there?That tab is about the private messages. He is talking about the tab when a person replies (or you) in a thread you are subscribed to, it notifies you. The bell tab in the "you" section.

No, bro. Their replies and your replies go to 2 different sections.
See my screenshots.
Your replies fall under the "bell" in "You". Their pms and replies go under the "mail" icon.
Subscriptions under the "bell" would mostly be those topics you replied on.

Sent from my vivo 1713 using TapatalkCheck under the "bell" in "Subscriptions" if you're looking for replies in topics you started or had subscribed to.
Just scroll a bit as usually the forums with new topics go at the top then the topics you're subscribed to with replies are a lil further down below.
