I'm not exactly sure who if any members (aside from a very select few) that are "open" about their orientation. I've come to the conclusion some people are still ignorant about the subject, and may or may not bash on us. I've seen some of this happen in game. I haven't seen it on forums as much. So anyways, this thread is a "coming out" thread if you will. And I'm more than happy to be open about it seeing how I've had few forumers ask me in game lol yes I'm gay, and no the question doesn't bother me :) . BUT at times it does bother me that people say "that's so gay." Just a reminder that gay people like myself do exist and are or could be actively involved in forums and in game. Watch your words is all I'm asking not just for myself but for those who might find it hard to be gay in a gamers community where most are straight. We are all equals, and would like to be treated as such. Remember keep it P.L.U.R. Peace Love Unity Respect (and Responsibility). If any other member(s) are willing to post that they are secure and open about it feel free to post, I'd like to get to know more than just the 2 or 3 I already do know lol

btw I understand some people don't agree with our preference, so if that's your case don't bother posting anything hateful...

Don't worry about it :) I know I'll always be your friend no matter what. Some people will be judgemental but you have to push past it. Myself being a Christian am not supposed to support it, but I don't hate it either.

If anyone ever "bullies" you in-game, it is bannable. So make sure you report it.

I think anyone has the slip of the tounge sometimes, so you can't always prevent it. But if someone is purposely doing it to bother you, thats wrong.

I have male friends that find me attractive, and I don't treat them any different. It's irrelevant I'm bi, buts it's good to know that this can be an open and accepting group of many types of individuals. The game is addictive fun but the community has honestly moved me at times.

It may be irrelevant, but when you're involved with a community even
online I can't help but feel oppressed if I can't be open about it.
It's just to make it known that gay people do play games like these and we too can kick wome zombie butt lol it's kinda like when a girl plays video games and people hate on them for it...but yesh more than anything it's to make sure we as a community make it a fun environment for ALL types of players. :)

Isn't this like a conversation for the 90's? These days, no one really cares. I could give a rat's (behind), whether the person I am talking to is attracted to males or females. Few things though:

1) What I DO mind, is the annoying people who make being "Gay" an obvious lifestyle change/way of life. Going around screaming "Im gaaaay *snapsnapsnap*", etc. I don't run around saying "I'm Straaaaight!" So wish these peeps would keep it to themselves... it's nothing special.

2) What I DO mind, is the gay males who "Come out of the closet", and then the next day they are walking with arched backs, swaying hands held up at their chests, and talking like a female. There is absolutely no need to try to ACT gay, which so many people do these days.

3) Someone saying "That is gay", has become something entirely different. 99% of the people who say this, are in no way saying, "Oh my god, that is sooooo like a male who likes other males". So now, gay is inter-changeable between Happy/gleeful, Being attracted to the same sex, and now lame/retarded/stupid. Remember "Gay" does not mean that you like the same sex. It is a word that has gotten attached to these people. You are stealing someones term for being happy. I am sure the creators of the word, don't appreciate you saying "I am gay" when you are not referring to the definition of the word. ;p (Not attacking you, btw. Just counter-arguing). Now if someone says, "Oh my god! That is sooo homosexual", then maybe that's too far.

Point is, Don't put so much weight on words. If someone is using gay in the sense of "Lame" or "stupid", then take it as that. Do not take it as an insult, there is no point in it.

However, I have many gay cousins and quite a few gay friends, so I felt I needed to say something to the kid. I walked up to him, looked him straight in the face, and said in all seriousness: "How would you feel if I came up out of nowhere, and called you whitey because of the color of your skin?". I'm not definable by standard terms. From my behavior one would conclude hetero/monogamous, but that's only because my soul mate is the opposite sex. The word gay does not mean what you think it means. The word belongs to no one. Now if a word is used in a way to insult some one...that is different and should be reported.

But people refer to African Americans as "Black" but black can be used in many other ways. Sure, someone could insult someone by using black in a derogatory way, but the word itself is not bad and shouldn't cause a mute. If people get insulted by someone saying "that's so gay" meaning it as "retarded or stupid", then they are being silly. We need more adults around here methinks. Sounds like too many people trying to adopt a white knight complex for "their people".

Next thing you know, we'll have some feminists popping up saying there are too many men NPC's in blackstar. Or we need to mute people for saying "man, I wish I had a blahblahblah" or "Man! He just killed us all!" because they are not taking into account the females in the game. Making obviously offensive comments as a joke is usually a sign of immaturity, not necessarily hate or malice. Also, many people swear when they feel strongly about something, but do not know any better way to express their thoughts. I just don't see any benefit of posting something personal about yourself on a game forum other than getting attention, it is not necessary, you could just report someone for using offensive language.

The troll who turned the thread into a discussion of his prejudices wants attention, too. I want your attention, and in fact while you read this, I have it. What's so bad about that?

Some people don't like to live a lie. Like me, who can chat about faith concepts even though I prefer doubt. I would be lying to do it while hiding my true thoughts. So maybe this fella doesn't want to be in a guild that would boot a gay member, so he comes out and, if the accept him, he knows it is real.

Isn't there anything like that in your own life?

I can assure you he is accepted in ARG because we are LGBT friendly and I don't tolerate any disrespect in my guild. ARG is prolly the first and only LGBT guild but hopefully more will show up. Proof that regardless of age, gender, orientation and race we are a family and always will be.

I am fighting for the country I love and I know one person who died fighting for the country we live, breath and love our beautiful country and that is what I am fighting for and all of the other people who live here, to protect the world.
