Actually, pumpkins are From the squash family, but that's beside the point.

Wow! I never knew how interesting pumpkins are!

According to Oklahoma State horticulture dept ; Squash, melons, pumpkins, and cucumbers are all part of the Cucurbitaceae, or gourd, family. They belong to the group of vegetables known as cucurbits. LOL!!!!

I guess we're both wrong. Aren't pumpkins awesome?
