Creeping rifle's proc

Can someone explain to me about the purple zone from creeping rifle? I am curious if it does something or not. Because as i see warrior weap can spawn simillar zone with damage but when i use my creeping rifle, i cant see what effect the purple zone does.

Creeping rifle spawns purple disabling zones that slow and stun mobs, but unlike warriors weapon, creeping rifle also has a chance to banish/instakill mobs
