If this event were to return again next year, could it be so that if people already present in the map started collecting materials it seals off that map to other players. If your goal is to farm materials it's a waste of energies to land in maps where significant amount of nodes have been harvested already. Goblin event seals off a map when someone interacts with mobs, so it shouldn't be difficult to make it that way.
