Fang drops?

Alright, I was doing some 2nd floor runs with a friend and while I was using my daily u got a ponk drop from one of the vamps, not the boss. Is this new or just really rare?

I wish I could post the pics but I'm too lazy to fix my mobile app and can't post on the full site from an iPhone. BUT IT DID HAPPEN O_O

Vamps always have dropped pinks. They have not dropped premium set pinks.

On a related note... I recently noticed that in Fang, regular drops come from opening chests, not necesarily killing mobs...
Is this correct? Is this the same in other maps? (I only recently noticed it, and so far only on the Fang maps...)
