And they're all lvl 3 (least from everyone I have talked to) with the exact same stats.

LOL i think too many old-school rpg playaz are among devs. And by old-school i mean as old as 'pen-and-paper' ad&d or warhammer gameplay (i enjoyed that myself!). They might think that different names will make you IMAGINE you have different items..

Our intent with the promo codes was more for the new player coming in to play the game the first time. Imagine if you will that you're a regular reader of one of the websites we partnered with. You see an article about a new vampire game and cool, they're giving me a weapon to help me check it out. Log in, grab weapon, blood splatters ensue!

So, it's not really a program geared for the experienced STS player to collect them all. Sure, someone can who wants to do that and plenty of people like to collect stuff. But, it's really a program designed for new players.
