New Feature: 'Watch' Friends!

The ability to 'spectate' or 'watch' another player, especially while they're embroiled in an explosive PvP battle, has been one of the most requested technical features to date.
So after quite a bit of consideration we decided to create a general solution that allows you to watch your friends (if they allow it) in any dungeon or arena.

HOW IT WORKS
- Allow Friends to watch you as you play by turning on the 'Allow Friends to Watch' Option found on your Friends Page.

- If a Friend has chosen to 'Allow Friends to Watch,' you can watch them by tapping the eyeball icon near the top of the Friend info block on your Friends page.

- Watch your Friends while they are adventuring, dueling, battling, merching, or otherwise being Legendary.
Note: if your Friend is not in the world (looking at the main menu or some such) you will not be able to 'watch.'

I don't see why it is a problem somehow, aren't this how games like mobile legends, Leagues of legends, marvel super war are? The only concern is private chat isn't it?

There’s a bug, when i turn off the “Allow Friends to watch” my friends can still spectate if they have already joined the spectating mode

There is also the command: /watch "ign" for those who dont know yet.

Can it be made so that whn a player want to spectate there's a pop up on screen similar to party invite asking for permission?
This can work so well imo.

Also in settings adding option for them to see/not see msgs cuz if I wanna talk with those watching me I can enable and chat with em and if I'm on a private chat with others I can disable it so it protects privacy.

In marvel super war for example, I have friends who disable the watch option, but I know who they are in party with so I can still watch from my other friends who have not disabled spectators. I don't think u can block everyone from watching you if there's at least one person who allows it in a party.

This is so common in 5 v 5 pvp games lol, random chat will appear ("noob iron man" for example) when u r fighting XD.

The thing is once a player is able to spectate, regardless of how they got inside in the first place, they will and should be able to spectate everything that happens in the party private or random

For normal zone chat, no. Watchers can see zone chat from other watchers, but not the players in the zone, and vice-versa.

You spectate that person to watch them, and not others. The fact that it is possible to spectate someone with the motive to spy on others, even if they have theirs off (for privacy reasons lol) is the problem.

If you people want to criticize at least be constructive...

It's actually a cool feature and just like you can't have the night without the day you can't have the good without the bad, there will be some people that might misuse it... but like how chat is misused by some but that doesn't mean shouldn't have chat at all...

After playing around 1 main thing that comes to mind is it would be cool if it showed you at the top somewhere just a small icon if anyone was watching you or how many (for example just an eye symbol when someones watching a number next to it to represent how many)

I don't know how learning how to play pve or pvp in real time from actual pros become "prying". I can't stop anyone from using the knife to kill neither can I take away the right of a chef to cook meals.

If you are referring to stealing secrets strategies of LB runners which I'm sure they will all disable if in a private party, I don't see how bad it could become.

Let's see who will use the watch feature at all in this case, we all got too much time watching solo performance all around arlor yayy😎

I honestly think watch will just be another thing to adjust. Overall, it's a good thing. Just like how people got used to cloud storage and synced storage, people will adapt to watch mode. At the beginning, cloud storage and synced storage resulted in a lot of leaked photos and scandals. Now, people have adapted. It's just one more thing people will adapt to.

This opens the doors to many possibilities for example: new or inactive players who have returned to the game after a long time could be taught to play again ... obviously looking at your screen and for content creators the possibilities are several.
