It is widely known and has been already discussed in the forums that using certain spells in a rapid succession plays a specific sound, displays a "Combo" caption and the name of the combo above the mobs' heads and, most importantly, produces some kind of special effect. However, unless I don't know how to use the search function, almost nothing is known about what these special effects are. The PLclopedia says that lightning + thorn wall = nature strike produces a stun, and this is all the information I was able to gather.
It would be awesome if someone provided a clue about what exactly things like "hot flash", "shattered", "terror" and others do and how does it depend on the skill levels (in particular, am I losing something combo-wise if I keep ice storm at level 1?). It is likely that they give some extra damage, but it is hard to say how much, because tracking the small red numbers is quite tedious (especially regarding that they are randomly picked from some fixed range, just like almost everything in PL). Even if it is the case, they may have a side effect I'm not aware of.
I know that this information may be quite hard to pull from the game itself being just a player, and thus it would be more than awesome if developers shared some of their knowledge in this matter.
