A noob in town threatened to hack my account over gear:(

I was in town last night. A young level, Oxie, wanted my black helm (which is worthless!). I was friendly & explained that it was the only one I had. I explained he had to be level 35 to wear it anyway. I was NICE.

His friend pm'd me and said something to the effect of "Give my friend what he wants now or I will hack your account."

I freaked out. In hindsight, I was an idiot. I should have gotten a screenshot. I don't even remember the guy's name. I said to Oxie that his friend threatened me & that was not cool. Then, I exited the town.

I know the person who threatened me can't be reprimanded since I don't even know who it was. I also know, in calm retrospect, that the person was most likely making an idle threat. My hubby's job is programmer- threatening to hack anyone is serious. What's happened that some new players feel like they can threaten anyone like that if they have something they want?

Sigh. I know I should just shrug it off, but I'm still freaked out a little:(

I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I'm not worried at all about my account being hacked. I just felt uncomfortable that someone would say that- it's not something to say to someone you don't know. Hacking is too serious. And threatening players over gear is horrible.

This acually isn't a bad idea. This could be used for minor "bullying offenses" that people can't really get a ban for. Just a little something to let other people know that "hey, this guy can have a bad attitude at times". I wouldn't mind seeing that being implented in-game. Of course, it wouldn't be permanent, just for a few days or so.
