Hey guys! Sorry I've been gone for awhile. I've been going crazy on Dark Legends! Great game right? Well I have just one issue to talk about with you guys. I was in Club Sanctuary this morning to find it full of people cursing. Words from A to Z. I was surprised to this and just told them to watch their language. They responded by saying, "This isn't Pocket Legends or Star Legends. Cussing is encouraged on this game." I understand that the game is recommended for 18+ but cmon, there's no way that this is allowed right?

Not encouraged (tho JustG enjoys it) but, yes it is allowed.

Hm. Thanks for the info Lowly. Although I won't he using it, I also won't be warning people to stop doing it.

But saying racist or offensive things is still worth reporting, right? I'm a bit fuzzy on the purpose of the "report language" button in DL. What would constitute reportable language?

No prob. One good thing tho, it is still not allowed to verbally assault others or say racial slurs (hence the reason the "innapropriate language" button still exists). The occasional "This is f***ing awesome" is ok tho.

Yes, racist/offensive remarks are prohibited as well as cursing people out in anger.

Yes racist and inappropriate behavior is still not allowed. Like it says when you log in Welome to Dark Legends and inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Racist, sexist, and anything that would make someone feel uncomfortable is not allowed.

Cursing is never encouraged but it is allowed. If it is used to abuse any of the fore mentioned actions it is in violation of the Terms of Service and is a re-portable offense.

Thank you for pointing this out because for some reason there is confusion and many are under the impression that DL has no TOS and can say anything they want. No matter the rating of the game TOS are still in effect. You agree to this every time you login to any of the STS games.

What?!?! I though the rule was you had to go to sanctuary and cuss at least once per day or get banned.

Everytime you swear it boosts your stats, add 15k gold to your inventory, and give you an achievement every so often(1 time, 10 time, 500 time, 10k, 50k, and 100k

If players are all excited because they can be cursing and vulgar, then I am quite sure they are not over 17 ;)

If there is so much that it's making you uncomfortable, then move (to another instance). Most places do not have that much swearing. It seems mostly to occur when someone or someones first discover that it's possible to swear: then it's a swearfest until they get bored and go play.

It is encouraged: actually if you do not curse in game you get a sharp note from the admin.

Cursing is not encouraged at all, I honestly have an issue with the kids that are getting into this game.
They are very easy to pick out and are easily ignored, but it is annoying the things people will say with these avatars.

But they must have asked their parents for permission, so it's OK.

Permission or not, doesn't give people the right to act that way lol.

The sense of entitlement that kids, and a lot of adults, seem to have these days sees to that.

I only use those colorful metaphors in a non-abusive manner. And it's funny but I have three toons and I don't cuss on my main. The alts, though, they think vulgar adjectives provide exactly the sort of emphasis needed to make their points. My main thinks the sentence works just fine without extra adjectives. So... to each his own.

Please don't tell me you think that everyone over 17 acts like using profanity is normal. Cause I can assure you when you get a professional job people will be very offended by the use of "common" profanity... Although you are allowed to use profanity, I think it should only be used to emphasize a point not to provoke other players.

You are painting a pretty broad stroke there. I've held a few "professional" jobs where people cursed like sailors and no one thought twice about it. Depends on your definition of what a professional job is, I suppose.

I don't curse, never have, never will and the closest I'll ever come to it is saying darn or shoot :p But even though it ruffles my feathers to hear cursing, I'll accept that I can't force my personal choices on anyone else as long as they are within limits.
