Spacetime Studios was recently in the news, leading off an article about how the Gaming Industry is doing in Austin, TX. Here's a clip:

In 2010, Spacetime Studios consisted of six video game industry veterans about to launch their first game on the iPad and iPhone.

Two years later, the company has released three games, moved into 12,000 square feet of office space and will grow to 50 to 60 employees this year.

"We've been really lucky," CEO Gary Gattis said. "Hard work pays off, but it's a mixture of scrappiness and luck."

Those same words might apply to Austin's video gaming industry as a whole.

Despite the economic downturn, the gaming sector has evolved from a niche industry into a key piece of Austin's creative sector.

From 2005 to 2010, gaming and digital media grew faster than any other creative industry in Austin, drastically outpacing the more high-profile music and movie industries.

For those that just like the pictures, here's one from the studio floor of Senior Artist Nate Beck at work.
