Dead players pick up hearts

Players getting killed close to the heart and flung over it by a stomp end up picking the heart without any effect aside from the pick up animation.

Is that intentional?

To me the two other options (not picking it or reviving it as a results of it) would make more sense.

I noticed that too, also if someone VS or stomps your recently dead body your dead lil body flies like its still effected.
So, idk maybe there is a lag in the recognition of death?

Not 100% sure but some guy was dead and stayed dead near the heart respawn area in CTF and, I think, he kept getting them. I came back time and time again to find no heart there. BUG? Not 100% sure as I would rotate around the arena.

Guy was doing death animation.

Heart spawned as he fell, a good 2 seconds after he was already killed, and he took heart that spawned on him.

It happens.
