I think this is the same bug with warrior helms on elves, and bird beaks sticking out through warrior helms. Does it look like that when you go to the menu screen? It seems that there are some visual glitches with the opening menu display of heads.

yeah this is the menu screen, ill check in game, but i was looking for that button you spoke of, lol, and my mage rotated and i got a glimpse...

Yes, it's a bug and is fixed in 1.4. Helms on the main and character select screen were not hiding the hair. This is not the case in the avatar, inventory, etc. screens.
