to many accnt attempt fails

So i was loggin in on one accmt and it said wrong password an they it said try later to.many failed.first off idk how that can be.second is hoe long is the time out wait?

The problem could be that you gave your email away to a friend, and they intentionally or accidentally pressed "forgot password", automatically changing your password and sending a new password to your email.
