View Full Version : Little topic about money

This is a big topic in my opinion. Number one, does money corrupt the mind?
Money has corrupted society since the dawn of time.
Remember Christ throwing the money-changers out of the temple?
Judas sold out for thirty pieces of silver.
Of the seven deadly sins, greed is perhaps the worst. Our obsessive avarice keeps us lusting for more. If a man has a million dollars, he 'needs' two million. If he has two million, he 'needs' four million. And we call that 'success' and 'determination' when all it really is - is pure greed.
Today we're in a 'war' against another sovereign nation all for the sake of OIL and WAR PROFITEERING. While our U.S. government might tell us we're fighting to defend our borders against foreign enemies, our troops are dying to bring democracy to Iraq, the simple fact is plain: the wealthy elitists, industrialists and sleazy politicians all want more MONEY.

BUT...

I feel that the LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL(I quote from the Bible)
If a person understands what his basic needs are ,then the money becomes a necessity for Living.
The moment person Looks at life from a different angle like comfort, luxury, status symbols, fame, etc and focuses on it , its then the infinite accumulation of money starts and then it just becomes a habit. In some cases the circle of society in which the person mingles gives tendency for the mind to go corrupt.
So actually it the other way round It is the mind which is corrupt or rather gets corrupt.

See where i'm at here? I contradict myself. I believe money does corrupt our brains. But i also believe that it is us who has corrupted our selves.
I'm just another confused individual

Well said.

However what would life be like without money?

There would be no schools, no jobs and possibly no motivation for many people.

If they never invented we probably wouldn't have made half the things we created. Yeah people are greedy for money but it encourages ppl to do Better and aim higher.

Of course there is always a down side on everything, like the fact that money cause war as you said. This is topic can have varies of answers and this is just a little version of my point of view

I wasn't necessarily saying money should have never been made. But without money in the world, we would know no different. If money had never been created, what would we need the motivation for money for if it had never been created. The U.S. dollar is more than most of the other countries dollars. Thus making us the more RICH country. But you see people in say Africa who's family cares for each other they have little to no money but they have a family. Our U.S. homes with families the parents tend to spend time away form their children or even shoo them off because they are to worried about money. Thus leaving their own flesh and blood in the dust.

Don't forgt, money makes you "powerful" basicly doing anything you want, which shows you being a jerk. Just look at how the government is :3

Money or the love of money is in no way evil. Currency is simply an easier way to exchange goods (you wouldn't want to be paid in chickens and try and round them up to trade for a car).

The problem (as in the barter system) is people stockpiling resources because it breaks the system. Money is just a tool.

Since this tool is thought to be the source of power, (because basicly with a lot of money you can buy a lot of things) the power goes to their head, making them do
1) whatever they want
2) wanting more and more of this power
3) go crazy to do anything to get this power

World without money = socialism. And I don't mean "communism" in Soviet Union. Idea of socialism is government owns everything so we don't need money. Communism in Soviet Union fell to "greed for power" (I don't know exact term) and that's why I call it "communism". I think the most socialistic/communistic country in world is North Korea.
