Design Ark's Sig - PRIZE: 100k credits.

Hello everyone! I decide I want to have a sig, but sadly I'm not very creative and techy. So I created this contest (: I will pick only ONE winner and that winner will get 100k credits! I hope I get to see some great designs! (:

My main character is Ark. But I'm also very active on my other characters in my signature below. I'm also an AoB. I live at the sunshine state, Florida. My favorite color is blue. I'm into Japanese culture and language (trying to learn the language actually and I got to say, it isn't going so well lol :p). Umm I really don't know what else.. But you can just be creative and add anything else :p

I even have a script that displays one image but when you refresh it, it will automatically randomly choose between the two and display. Unfortunately these forums are not compatible with the image because they save their own copy of the image instead of displaying it via the original link...

I was gonna do something with blue/purple or blue/pink colors too...but I can't stand the 100 pixel height limit for renders unless it's something like you have in your sig with a great sideways angle.

And I don't like doing work on a bigger canvas than is allowed here, cause it looks all great and then it gets shrunk down to nothing lol.

140-200 (pushing it....180 maybe) would be the ideal height for renders.

A sharpened foreground over a blurred background creates an image of depth and allows you to perceive that the image is actually an image infront of an image, and not a flat picture.

I use vector backgrounds. If I use the liquify effect, will that produce the same results? Because many forum sigs I've seen seem to use the smudge tool to get the blur before adding renders... and I'm not that good at that, yet...

Vector's are more or less supposed to be sharp...but are meant more to be effects, or to build off of a render, not to be actual backgrounds. Throwing an image over a sharp vector can sometimes be confusing unless it "flows" with the render and doesn't clash for visual attention.

Here is an example of what I was suggesting to him from Signaturestop.com (Great intro tutorials). This is the first ever tutorial I'd seen on depth a long time ago:

Throw some fractals and effects in there and you've got a pretty nice design in very little time. All this involves is Gaussian Blur, Masking and black painting over the focal point on the mask layer, and then adjusting the curves (color curves that is).

Here is an example of using vectors (and splatter brushes) to make a signature:

It's not the best vector signature I've seen, but it's the first one I found on google that shows what I want to show. The vector brushing and splatters are in the background, but aren't actually the entire background. They're used to accent the Yoshi Render and give him some extra flare. Now imagine if the whole background was black shapes like that? It would take away from the image because it would look like Yoshi was resting on a flat black design. Do it like this, and it looks like he's a part of it, floating on the white background.

I did lol, I'm gonna rework the signature using your advice, thanks. By the way, someone told me 500x 190 was the best size for a forum signature. A friend of mine did some work for me back in the day.

Didn't seem to put much effort in the first one, since I still think he ripped it from somewhere and stuck my name to it -,- but I loved the second, I can only say that now because I have a somewhat "amateurish" experience with gfxing. lmao

yea lol , did that in a couple of minutes before i rushed to work. The size limit is annoying, mine usually are at 150 couldnt go any higher with out sacrificing quality.

Unfortunately this doesn't work. You need to host the script and pic on a separate web host so my only option was to use the link method in the first place.

If Ark extends deadline again Im going to have to do some of my own enhancements :p. Depends on whether the deadline is tomorrow at midnight ET or today midnight. Plz clarify if you can! I have preference over today midnight to end what I call "artists burden." Once you make a sig you can never be satisfied with it.... at least in my case lol.

PS: Flowman I can't agree with you enough... Where I come from sig standard lengths are 640x128. 100 is a challenge for even a minimalist like me. And sheesh no gifs allowed either. and Aaron - I love vector images...they are making me good money online for even small logos.

PPS: (Note to Ark) I noticed that the forum background color for where the sig is placed is slightly different from the iOS forum view. So tell me which device you use more, (Phone or Comp), I can edit the signature to make it seem more fitting to your style. That along with any other edits if interested.

I'm not pulling 640 from a guess, I'm saying it because it is the ideal size on a lot forums. Especially on this type of forum where a max sized sig looks puny in the sig window, I think 640 would be appropriate. I'm not interested in just changing the height to ruin the ratio (Which looks pretty decent as is). I definitely disagree with decreasing the length lol. I need that space for sure. Also keep in mind that these are max dimensions, so anyone can build sigs that are smaller than that.

Well personaly the signature size limit on here is perfect for me. I remember when I first started in late December My signatures were tiny little boxes and I was happy with them. Then as i went along they became bigger and bigger to the standard size now lol. Nice little fact for the fans ;-)

I think the more quality is in them, the smaller they look, because for some reason my old signature looked waaaay bigger, and try to use jpeg format, cuz any file bigger will smudge on forums.
