With immense occurence of manipulation in the market and new forum accounts created every other day posting non-sense. I have a suggestion to make a know your customer process.

First off, since mods have the ability to ban accounts in forums, they must surely have the ability to give permission to verified players as well.

Every existing forum account will be like a new account, unable to post (comment too?) and they will only be given permission to post when they verify themselves.

To verify, players should state their in game names to a verifier (forum moderator/dev) and provide concrete proof (could be proved by going online with said verifier). People will only be allowed to have one forum account per AL account. Multiple igns in single account will still equate to one forum account.

With this, at least mods know who is who and there will be less accounts made everyday.

But of course there would be pessimists, so to counter maybe allow unverified accounts a limited amount of posts/comments per day. This is also to incentivize verifying oneself.

I myself wouldn't mind going through the process, but idk about the mods if they are willing go the extra mile to actually help the community; as it pretty is much a big project.

What do you think?

Not sure of the problem you're trying to solve. It also seems like a lot of effort for little benefit and we don't have the bandwidth for it.

-ALSSolves a lot of problems, to be fairly honest. I've already explained the background as to why I suggested it in the first place. Please don't easily dismiss the idea just cause you don't understand the premise.

Look at it from a player's perspective.

I asked Futumsh for something like this around 2 years ago and he mentioned that there wasn't a way to connect forums to AL. I asked something along the lines of using housemail for verification and lv 71+ character.
Issue is harassment though in my case, I rarely go to the trader market to post.
Devs manually verifying accounts won't work as it will be too time consuming.

First off, I'm no expert in software so bear with me. But I can think of a way for automated verification.

There could be a site/link where players input their email, spactime studios username, or whatnot that is used to login to the game, as well as an IGN of a character in that account. Then a code input box will appear.

Once confirmed by the system, a macro will send out the code to the in-game mail of the account on any/all the characters (code shall expire after a few minutes or so). After the code is inputted, players are given the choice to receive a new forum account (username and password will be given) OR verify their own existing forum account by typing in their username.

We could skip the in-game verification entirely, if the account is gmail based then one can confirm just through the gmail system. Kind of like what Supercell did with their Supercell ID.

It's a lot of work and I may have some technical mistakes, but I hope you get the point.

By letting the mods know who the owners of forum accounts are, violators can easily be tracked and punished, and those who get scammed can actually have some type of evidence. The gold buyer accounts get away all the time with no repercussion, solely because it is so easy to make a new forum account everyday.

Any reconsideration for this, @asommers ?
