We here at Spacetime Studios are blessed to have found some really talented people to create our goodly games. They also do some pretty creative stuff on the side. One such example is Lance Myers, an animator here on the Spacetime Art Team. Lance is putting together a 20 minute animated film about an up-and-coming boxer in 1970's New Orleans. Lance tells me that the voices are all done, the animatic is complete, and now he is on to knocking out the animation, frame by frame. Which is, as you might imagine, a labor of love and taking a very long time to do. So to speed things up Lance is trying his hand at some fund-raising, going the KickStarter route.

Check out Lance's project at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1101984741/boxer-story-the-animated-short-film

If you, or someone you know, would like to contribute to a unique project like this, Lance would really appreciate your support. Help him spread the word and bring his project to life!

Those are some really sweet animations :)

The style reminds me a bit of the animated shorts in Kill Bill.

Were you by any chance at South by Southwest this past year? I love SWTOR! So what exactly are story boards?

So what exactly are story boards?

Its a rough mockup of the story..but it gets the point across.
if it don't flow right thats the time to change it....gosh I remember when an animation was almost done and there was a change to the story -__-" made other peoples life a bit harder. The rigger, painter and inker(me) were Po'ed O.O...thought the director was gonna die that night by some freak accident. lol

So he does story boards for like side quests or something?

I live in Austin, so I attend SXSW every year. I didn't participate with any of my own films this year, but I've had screenings in the past. Here's a link to my last project which screened at SXSW in 2008:

As for storyboards-- they're kind of like thumbnail sketches of key moments in cinematics. Used to help visualize the flow of a movie before the movie goes into production. Here's a better description...

Nice, my dad was at SXSW this past year with a company called Nearstream.

So the story boarding you do for SWTOR, is it for quests?

I'm an animation major in college, with hopes to sometime work with marvel/Disney :). Your work is awesome! I still have a lot to learn, but ran out of money for school. Seeing your work is really making me want to bounce back! Once again, it's awesome.

wow this is amazing ive done stuff like this in school but with basic computor programs and i never really made anything to be proud of. There must be a lot of frames in a 20 minute clip or even a 5 minute one
Best of Luck!!!
