Mages using staff vs wand in humania

I JOIN A GAME IN THE MASH VS THE ELITE BOSS AND I HAVE A CREW OF PLAYERS I DONT REALLY KNOW,TWO DIE WHILE FIGHTING BOSS AND UPON RMK I COME BACK AND I AM GIVEN THE L 70 STAFF FROM A PLAYER "USE THIS"
I USE IT AND DIE TWICE IN A ROW.
THEN I COME BACK WITH WAND AND GET SCREAMED AT FOR NOT USING STAFF("PLAYER,IT DOES MORE DMG")
FYI WITH FULL ANGEL GEAR AND THE ARMOR BONUS FROM THE LAST THREE LEVEL CAPS MY ARMOR IS 243 MANA 37 DODGE 26 DPS 302
WITH STAFF MY ARMOR IS 154 MANA 30 DODGE 6 AND DPS 329,I UNDERSTAND DMG IS MUCH HIGHER BUT IF EVERYTIME I JOIN MASH PEOPLE ARE GOING TO SCREAM AT ME USE THE STAFF IM OUT. THEY DID NOT HAVE ONE COMBO IN THREE TRIES,IVE BEEN PLAYING FOR OVER TWO AND A HALF YEARS.I KNOW WHAT IM DOING!
FYI: CRAFTED STAFF GIVES ME A DPS OF 50 WHICH IS MUCH HIGHER ESP WITH A THRASH BUT RELAX,PEOPLE GET IN THESE GAMES AND GET SO JACKED UP.

If you're having issues with the elite dungeon players, why not just wait a while until people (who have skills and preferences you like) level to 71 then run with them?

I use staff in there and I don't die. Maybe you should consider using a robe that'll give you armor if you're as vulnerable. I go all dps and dmg when I'm using a staff. I might post a screenie later to show you...might...

Staves is for mages that use a correct team-play (The "Stay-behind-the-Tank-with-the-Bird" technique) and wanna just nuke from the rear (Of course they MUST master the mana shield timing).
The wand and bracer is for the situations where you end in the "Everyone-for-themselves" kind of PUGs and, more in general, for more support style builds.

Since the Elite boss should require team-play I think both a nuke mage and a wand mage (or a paladin even better) are needed.
Unless you are confident that your team is great (and risking to go all nuke mages) both profiles are required in my opinion.

I understand you getting heated...those Mystery runs are not easy....like the devs said u need timing & teamwork to get it done even with elixirs. Our group was getting mad too when the boss was almost dead & then healed up. Ppl got to understand that every run won't be successful, theres gonna be some fails. There's times when u can get on a roll & whip the boss but even then nothing drops so it's easy to get frustrated.

The way characters are more overpowered I'm not sure staffs have more advantage in boss killing like in the past...that was the sewer days...now armor & dodge in mages is more important I believe in hard-hitting campaigns like Nuris, Fang, & Humania.

Using staff and staying alive is way more benficial for the team, as you only have limited time to kill boss before the re-heal. I suggest using staff and knowing when to use mana shield for better protection. I would take a staff mage over a wand mage anyday:)

Join a game with friends or others when the met up in town lol. People always seem to have a problem when they join "random" games.

Try to time your Drain, Heal and Mana Shield.
I find those vital in PvE, especially if you stay in the front as a staff mage.

So you are telling me that the staff vs wand makes such a difference that it bothers players if one specific item is not used? Sounds like gear balance issues to me or that some players are way too obsessed by others builds.

mages should use staffs, they are supposed to die easy, they arent tanks. you need to effectively learn to play a staff mage, if the bears tanks properly you should just have to heal, notice how at the 50 cap there wasnt even a set bonus for the looted wand sets?

Wrong. The Cyber Wand set did give a bonus as did the Shadow Glow Stick set.

I never use a staff anymore. The tanks that I trusted enough to use staffs with no longer play (or play at different times than me now). Everytime I end up with a group anymore it is always a scatter bear. that decreases a mages/birds survivability. I choose wand/bracer specifically for this reason.

Think I'm a worse mage because of that, run with me and see.

wasnt aware that the cyber gear aside from wand was lootable o.O
also shadows set didnt recieve a set bonus until about a month into the sewer campaign

Here you go this is my PvE staff build, I forgot to mention I do have the SoH and MF robe so it adds to my stats. IDK if you have either these or the CoP and one of these. I'm combining Dex Angel gear with Islanders, and using a ring that adds 11+ dmg and dps I believe:
