Jewel Farming at Level 81

as the title says, I'm curious where would be a good place for jewel farming as level 81? I've read a couple of threads about jewel farming and most of them say to use warrior and have glintstone aegis and go to mauso as well as the recommended level of being around the level 50s. Does this mean jewels frequently drop if you are around the level of the map? However, I'm a mage and level 81... and I'm not wealthy enough to invest in a warrior :((

Also another question, how does jewel elixirs work? I tried opening one chaos jewel elixir and didn't notice a change in the drop rate...
