Elixir doesn't work?

The 2x 80 plat week long elixir doesn't combine with my other elixirs?

Regular Xp gain:2 xp per kill
4x with thrashers: 8 xp per kill
2x+4x=6x:Should be 6x2xp per kill= 12 Xp per kill.


I'm only getting 8xp per kill (4(x)4xp)

It's supposed to be 8x(2x*4x). Was working for a friend leveling his bear.
