Boosting stats/Kill farming! Is there anyway to stop it?

So I was minding my own business and joining PVP matches looking for rushers to rush when I stumbled upon a great little find...lol... I saw IinuiI in a locked game with only 2 people in there, when I got curious.... he had been in this game for a while so I decided to pop in and see what was up! Lucky me I cracked the code on the first try "NU" and what I found really made me laugh! To think that someone would waste their time doing this rather then playing actual players and possibly getting better just utterly astonishes me. I don't know if this is punishable or goes against TOS but really, IMO it should.

I even asked him if he was farming his kills and he openly admitted it to me!! NO SHAME??

Then what he said to me is beyond my understanding... i mean wtf does "run xd" mean? so I told him he was sad and killed him...

Tell me? Do you guys find this acceptable? Is this common practice? Is there anything that can be done to stop it?

Well putting names up in the forums is frowned upon, and kill farming isnt against ToS so he can do it if he wishes.
Thier is no possible way of stoping since ppl HAVE the freedom of doing so, but dont get me wrong i do c ur point, y kill farm? It really doesnt sound right cause its really no fun at all but yet ppl do it. So this guy is probably gunna do it again.

He's not taking advantage of someone, the other party is in complete cooperation. Or it could even be him. I don't see how that makes sense at all.

Even if the other player wasnt in complete cooperation it still wuldnt be scamming, like as if rushing wuld be illegally aswell...

The other party is him... and by scamming i am referring to when other players look at his k/d.. The whole reason for these stats is so you can show (or not) how good you are ect.... By falsifying these you are now leading others to believe a lie which is the foundation for any scam... I didnt mean it in its literal sense.

Well stats dont mean anything, i can kill someone with 20K kills and 13K deaths in arena, like otu said we all know who has skill and who doesnt.

To tell u the truth thier is no answer to that, ppl may have diff opnions and IMO i culd careless.

I think kill boosting in this manner is a childish cowardly act, but he's not affecting me or my game in any manner. So keep on farming if its what makes you happy and that's how you choose to play.

I don't support kill boosters, as my kdr is negative. The only way this should be an issue is if he steals leaderboards from a legit PvP fighter. Otherwise I say let the guy have fun slaughtering his dummy, which is him too.

If it hadn't already happened before, then yes, it is completely unfair for those who have pvped for a long time to get on the kdr leaderboards. However, now, the only way to get on the leaderboards would be to boost kdr.

As Otu said, it is clear by looking at individual's kdr who does this and who earns their kills the old fashioned way. I am proud of my horrible kdr as I know I have died at the hands of many of the "pros." ;)

All im saying is if the Devs were to at least make the spawn area off limits to the opposing team and to keep teams from hiding back in their spawn make it unable to be re-entered unless you are "re-spawning" like with DL! This way it not only keeps spawners from inflating their stats but it also would make it a pain in the butt for these people who are kill farming there own toons.

Kill boosting is kinda dumb. I don't do it because I like the satisfaction of knowing I "earned my kdr" so to speak. I don't mind if others do it though. Not like it affects me at all.

What I mean is have people with high kdr face each other. Lets say if you're ranked x'th you have to face people +/- 100 your kdr. If you don't face them within a set amount of time lets say 2 weeks month then you're taken off the leaderboards. SO for example: if you're farming off a noob with negative kdr, those kills will count as inactivity. So it will force people to join real games and fight others.

So by implementing this people with legit KDR will stay at the top, and those who farm will drop quick off the boards.

Problem solved.

P.S. sts might have to implement this to 1-2 decimal places b/c i figure most people will be within single digits

EDIT: this will only solve the KDR leaderboards which I think if implemented will be more important than total kills.

That's not a bad idea.

But the best solution would be to introduce a real ranking system, like Elo. Elo is used in chess, but computer games use it as well (e.g. League of Legends).

The main idea is that you earn points depending on your opponent's rating. E.g. if you have a rating of, say, 500 and the guy you killed has 500, you get 16 points. If he has 800, you get 32. If he has less than 200 you get very little. Ofc you lose points if you get killed, depending on your opponent's ranking :)

Another ranking system used in video games is Microsoft's TrueSkill.

Not sure how easy it would be to implement something like this in PL but it would definitely help with the kill-farming-by-killing-my-own-twink problem. Also, it would help in organising tournaments, e.g. Elite Tournament for rating > 500, beginner's for < 100.

But most importantly, it would provide an objective means of assessing player's skills = real leaderboards.

Any 55/56 players looking to farm kills should look for hunnytanker in PvP over the next couple of days. Make sure you get your farming in soon because once I get a couple hundred deaths it will start getting tougher.

You know me. If I see a person who boosts/farms kills I will wreck on em and there isn't a thing they can do about it. Other than leave, boot me, or call in friends. And in that case, I either call i friends too or take em on 2/1 3/1 3/2. KDR isn't a thing, SOOO many people have "insulted" me by my KDR and been dead at my feet over and over again.
I may be a guild master, tournament and ladder leader, and known member of pvp/forum community - BUT I will not stand for certain things.

that wouldn't work cuz the people on the leader boards will all be different lvls...a 30 facing a 60?

What i'm suggesting is forcing those who want to stay on the boards to be active in PVP. Making a death toon and farming yourself or asking a friend will not count as being "active" b/c the kdr of that toon will be too low.

If anything they'd worsen the situation by reducing fight duration. Burst damage is very decisive in PvP. And it would make a booster's job easier by making kills faster.
