View Full Version : The secrets of Auto Attack Mechanics Explained for Birds in Humania!!

Well, after hundreds and hundreds, if not thousands of runs in Humania using a bow and researching the mechanics, I believe I have finally cracked the secret logistical algorithm that operates the AUTO-attack feature in PL!!!

I hope this scientific breakdown will help other birds or players using bows fight more efficiently with parties in Humania and beyond! Based on countless hours of clear empirical evidence gathered, it has been revealed to me that the AUTO-attack mechanics follow this simple algorithm to base its attack.

When faced with a dangerous mob of enemies in Humania, the computerized AUTO-ATTACK feature will perform the exact following automated decisions, in the precise order listed below:

1. Is there a useless totem or chest far away that I can target instead of the attacking mob? A bow must attack every totem and chest on the map FIRST and FOREMOST before it can be of any use in any fight! (The further away the better so as to make my bow point in the opposite direction of the fight and prolong and delay the ability of a bird to fire on the totem or chest and delay the bird joining the actual combat);

2. If there are no totems or chests i can fire aimless at, instead of firing upon the closest attacking low level mob foot-soldier, I MUST, repeat, MUST select the biggest, most aggressive, steroid-induced Yeti on the map! Especially if his back is turned and he wasn't even in the primary fight to begin with. This will ensure that, while the rest of the party is fighting the normal mobs, that the roid-raged fuelled Yeti will immediately come over to you, punch you super hard in the face, and kill you, taking you immediately out of the battle!

3. If a kind mage takes pity on your sorry butt and revives you after aggravating a "Terminator" Yeti, you will immediately target the same yeti, no matter if he's right in front of you, or scattered by the bear to off the screen. This will ensure that the Yeti comes back over to you and nestles his fist back into your face, so that you can take another death-nap util the mage comes back to revive you again!

4. Are you SURE there are no useless totems or chests to fire wildly at?

5. If none of the above apply, the computer will quickly target a low level mob soldier, but based on an advanced scientific predictive model that is 99% accurate, will ONLY target the mob soldier that is most likely to be scattered by a bear as FAR AWAY as possible so that you are forced to chase him off the screen while your party wonders what the heck happened to their bird and as you jab uselessly at the screen to try and select another closer, and actually relevant target that was not thrown into another time zone. Uselessly is the key word here. AUTO-attack cannot be thwarted so easily!

6. Are you REALLY REALLY sure there are no useless totems or chests you can fire wildly at? The bow really wants to shoot them!

7. Will then target a dead or dying mob soldier, making your arrow fire off into the sunset over the dead body of the soldier you are pretending to help kill;

8. A repeat of all of the above as a double check the AUTO-attack hasn't missed anything listed in Nos 1-7;

Only after all of the above has been exhausted, then

9. it will Finally select a mob soldier actually involved in the fighting that is close enough to attack your party members. However by this time, your party has cleared all enemies except a half dead wounded mob solider trying to run away and you can finish him off as your party curses how useless their bird has been through the entire battle. Hey at least they dont have to chase down every useless totem or treasure chest to open since you took care of that during the big battle!

That's it! Hope it helps perfect your attack strategy! Good hunting for those totems and chests! :)

It's funny because it's true...

Genius, and my being this happens to even birds using wands, everytime. It gets too annoying =.= auto attack sucks

The same thing happens to me as a Mage and its always behind me and the rest of the party.

And, by the way, thank you very much for the totally hysterical summation of auto targeting. My co workers now think I have totally lost my mind. I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes!!! Ye gods I needed that laugh.

ROFL! Your analysis sounds about right :D

Autotargetting sucks so bad, that I manually target just about any enemy before tapping auto-attack.

Excellent guide!!! The auto-attack REALLY comes into it's own when you are using a melee weapon, getting pummeled by a half-dozen mobs, and targeting the one enemy blown across the lagoon by stomp.

Similar mechanics for mages as well.

Decision Tree for Mana Shield in Humania
1) Is a terminator Yeti targeting you? If yes, extend the delay so that you take the hit before the shield goes up.
2) Did a bear just scatter the entire mob? Bring the shield up immediately, no delay.
3) Is the mob near death? Go ahead and launch the shield after a normal delay.

Decision Tree for contributing to Combos/Mega Combos
1) Has a combo been started? If yes, introduce two seconds of lag so that your Lightning/Firestorm/Drain hits nothing while your team runs ahead and makes contact with the next mob.
2) Can a bear's stomp break up a combo? If yes, make sure the stomp occurs first and that the mob is scattered out of range.

Decision Tree for Resurrect
1) Make sure that when a death blow is issued, that it pushes the player to the opposite side of the map.
2) If there is another mage in the group that died, make sure that Resurrect is cast just as you get killed.

Decision Tree for Staff Mages
1) Introduce just enough lag onto everyone else to ensure that you always have aggro.
2) Ensure that a bear's stomp pushes the entire mob on top of you.
3) Whether you are auto-attacking or not, ensure that you always have the aggro of every Yeti.
4) You will never dodge...anything...ever!

Just as I began writing "this guide is useless", my auto attack decided to attack it, and now I'm dead and my Mage seems to be attempting to res a treasure chest in India.

Kiddin this was dead on!

And here I was thinking what this mechanics could be.
Well done, spot on :)

Jaytb, I should get used to ur method, but I'm so bad at aiming. Maybe I should zoom closer in... ^_^
