I know STS wants to earn money but THIS is way too expensive.

I guess at least it's cheaper than the other vular pets, but IMO those are way too expensive, too. Seriously, 200 plat for something that's not even tradable? The Dr usually appears at the end of the secret room, which is after you've completed the whole Hive map. The chance for gaining access to the secret room is pretty low.
You can also try joining completed games to access the secret room :P
