View Full Version : Random Friending...

I know this sounds kind of stupid to complain about, but really my friends list is basically just a bunch of random people at blackstar who friended me while I was AFK or making transactions. It's becoming a list to track everyone who is online rather than the people you actually talk to.

Suggestion: Why not make the person type the person's name to friend them? Players abuse that button like there's no tomorrow and start to friend everyone who they see. If they have to type the name maybe it would prevent them from friending random people all the time, and maybe strike up more conversations to get to know the person before friending them.

Edit: In other words remove the add friend button on profiles...

Just because they send a request doesn't mean you have to accept. You are just as much at fault for accepting as the random requesters are for sending.

How is that a bad thing?
Just simply press the 'Decline All' button, or the 'Remove' button..

Sometimes friends send requests on alternates and declining them all would be pretty annoying. Even after declining, the same people friend you right after. It's just easier to accept them all as they will consistently spam your friend list unless you ignore them... There is a reason also that most games put a cap on the friends/guild list.

I think that the requirement to type in someone's name to send a friend request is a great idea.

If they really wanted to be your friend they'd take the time to type it out. (And if they really wanted to be my friend, good luck typing it out! XD)

Exactly my point :)

My Solution to this has always been, never accept any of them. I am a collector of all things SL and my Request List is one of them. I have two pros and one con to this.

Pros:

Once they make their way onto my not so exclusive Request List, they can never send me another Friend Request ever again!

The other being, once they are on that list of mine, they can NEVER escape me! HaH! I can always see when you come online or not.

Con:

And it's not even really a bad one.... but that stupid notification that never goes away *sigh*

OK, maybe I have a second Con... Good Luck accepting someone who truly deserves to be on your Friends List without accepting 5-6 others because it's so jumpy :-P

I believe I'm up and over 2,500 Pending requests on each of my main toons :-/ Thanks for all the SPAM Requests.

If i ever missed your request. Simply PM me letting me know who you are and I will gladly accept.

Now that I have made this all about me... Have a Great Day SL!!

and declining them all would be pretty annoying.

3 things:

1. Let the requests build up like a lot of other people.
2. The player who requests you to be there friend cannot see if you declined it.
3. Turn off the friend request notification..

Now you could either of done that, or make a thread complaining about it. And you chose the 2nd option..

If you go to the Options, and then to Notifications, just turn off the Friend Request one. ;)

That's what I do, works like a charm!

Oh really? I didn't know I chose the 2nd option...

I was just bringing up an idea... Personally, I'm a bit OCD and hate the flashing things, all I'm saying is that if someone really wanted to add someone as a friend then that someone should be able to type the name and not spam the request or require them to block all requests period...

By the way, using fallacies in your argument really don't help it at all just so you know.

Umm.. I did not argue, I was simply posting a solution to your problem.
Now, they can go ahead and spam if they want to. There are no rules telling them that they can't.
It's your fault for being 'popular'..

So I don't see an argument with this post^ but I shall wait for you to post another useless reply to this post.
See you next Tuesday ;)
