View Full Version : Changes to AL Traders Market regarding thread bumping

Rather than rely on reported threads and manual reviews of unnecessary thread bumping, starting Monday (Oct. 24), we're going to automatically lock threads via script where the original poster posts consecutively within 24 hours.

We realize there will be a transition period where your thread may be unintentionally locked as we work out the kinks, but the rules will be straightforward: if you're the thread owner and you have the previous post in the thread and it has been less than 24 hours before you post another consecutive post, your post will be automatically locked.

Examples:

A 12p: Here are my items!
A 6p: Bump!

This thread will be closed because there was not 24 hours between bumps.

A 12p: Here are my items!
B 1p: Is this for sale?
A 2p: Yes!

This is ok because there are not two consecutive posts in 24 hours.

A 12p: Here are my items!
A 12p next day: Bump!

This thread is ok since there was 24 hours between posts.

Any updates to status, c/o, auto, etc. should be done in the original post. Do not bump with updates. Any attempts to get around these rules w/ alternate accounts, making many new threads, free bumps, etc. may result in your inability to create new threads in AL Traders Market.

Please consult the other stickied posts for additional rules regarding thread bumping.

Thank you for clarifying. It was very confusing earlier on. :ghost:

It’s systems like this that makes games great. I see Xuds speak about a ban for people, sounds good. Hahah

locking threads that are similar to another thread that were posted on the same day sounds good too

Accounts made from the same IP as an account should be somehow detected as being from the same IP. This is so that only one account per IP can post in market per day.

Of course a vpn could bypass this, honestly I have no idea how you’ll catch those guys hahahaha

Can this be changed from 24 hrs to 12 hours? There are alot of us who post on a new day and our thread gets locked. Tapatalk doesn't show precise time when the post was made. 12 hours seems fine since my posts get pushed to page 3 within the 12hr mark. On tapatalk its very far down the list.

I never personally saw any harm with having people bump you for free out of curiosity, or with genuine generosity before.

I can understand that if someone comments a question or asking a lower price, their message can be replied to, and that be acceptable.
I can also understand the “free bump” thing if there’s a purposeful lowballer amongst the comment section, and that brings light to your post.

But what I tend to find odd I guess, is the rudeness or unwanted arguments that tend to happen on posts, if buyers get mad, etc. You’d think people would have the manners to take it elsewhere, and have their situation handled privately through pm, or what have you. Sure, the argument gives the post traction, but at the end of the day, it might pressure someone to selling for an unreasonable or unwanted amount, and so on.

Then there’s the live bidding on items too. It’s cool to see people continue to put offers into comments, and change c/os all the time. In my opinion, it makes trying to sell something you own or cherish, that others may or may not find higher value in, can partake in an exchange of sorts.

Bottom line is, as much leeway was given before with the example given in box 2, and the fact it’s still acceptable with the new changes, it’s nice that some threads are being dealt with now, in the proper manner. Focusing a lot on Quality of life, maybe sometimes not for the better, can help with longevity at the end of the day. :-)

People are creating multiple threads so this issue isnt resolved. People have multiple accounts they just reply and offer in their own threads to keep their post on top.

I do not think this system should stay. Time will show, you might revert back changes soon.

Question about replying on a thread,
I posted the thread 1d ago
Someone replied 3hrs ago
Can I bump my thread thread since my last reply/post is already past 1d or I should wait another 1 day because someone replied to my thread 3hrs ago?

See example 2 above. As long as it's not 2 consecutive posts in a thread you started within 24 hours, you'll be ok.

The auto-locking script shows absolutely no mercy. Although they were older, you had two consecutive posts within 24 hours. I've cleaned up the threads by removing the older consecutive posts and unlocked them.

If you're the thread owner, just look at the latest post in the thread. If it was you, add 24h to the post time (or feel free to edit the original post text). If it wasn't you, you're free to post.

I just revived 1 thread about 1 item that I couldn't sell, about 1 month ago.
And it closed automatically.
The last post is from weeks ago.

I think i understand.
I always delete a message to put another "still selling", otherwise there is a thread with many "still selling". It looks ugly.
In any case, there you can see the dates, more than 1 month has passed since that last post or deleted message.
I will keep it in mind in my next post, I don't come to this section very often.

The auto-locking system was added 10-23. It scans a thread when a new post is made to an existing thread (including deleted posts) to determine if the thread should be locked.

Ah yes I understand, it counts for any old thread too.

+1 Too long, if you don't forget the thread, you should go find it on page 50 after 24 hours.

Is it important to lock threads when you don't bump it in the next 24hrs or 12hrs , because regarding on payers being busy on other things while waiting ont their thread to someone to reply it?

What should i do then?
Bc I tried to follow a rule of 24hours, but IT creates mamy misinformation sińce for example my items are sold but i cant say anything about due to bumping rule and people keep asking me for them.
What should i do?

@Asommers Is there a reason why I can’t delete my post from this thread? Maybe my use of the word thread is slightly off, but yesterday I posted to the traders market page looking to buy the new Blossomkeepers Dags. I was able to find them in the auction and so I came on to delete my post but the option to delete is not there (and I checked another one of my posts which when I go to edit the post, does in fact have the delete option).

whats bump mean and what it doBump means commenting on your own post, so it goes to the top again. The posts are arranged with last updated, so by "bumping" your post will show up again on front page otherwise it will go to page 2,3....etc. Its done so more people see the post
