The Android console Ouya has signed a deal with cloud gaming service OnLive, meaning hundreds of games from over 80 publishers will be available when the console is eventually released next March.

UK boss of OnLive Bruce Grove said, "When OnLive first heard about OUYA, we were excited to see console gaming becoming more available and open. Like OUYA, we came to gaming with a new vision for making top-quality gaming accessible to more people, and we continue to look for ways to expand on that vision.

"OUYA is rethinking the console business, making waves by using standard technology to make gaming for your living room accessible, affordable and more innovative than ever. In OnLive's case, we pioneered a groundbreaking, cloud-based system that instantly delivers games to any device on demand."

It does look rather nifty, I must say. Though I may wait a bit to see how it all shakes out. Kickstarter stuff hasn't had the best track record from what I understand. Still, I have faith as they've actually gotten software developers that I've heard of to commit to games for it.

Cool thanks for sharing!

Those who complain that they already knew should have brought it to my attention instead of coming here to whine. ;)

I think a lot of people are over estimating the OUYA.

It's a good idea though.

So we will be able to play STS games on it?

Idk, I'm unsure if it will source software from the play store or if it will have its own system. I'm betting on the latter because everything in the play store is based on touchscreen controls. With that said, I hardly want to play the same old un-updated crap on my phone and tablet, I sure don't want to on my TV.

OUYA is coming
Posted on: February 28th, 2013 | 9 Comments

Get excited!!!

OUYAs will begin shipping to Kickstarter backers on March 28. That’s right. Parts are in the factory and assembly lines are buzzing. We’ll gradually ramp up production as we make sure things are working. (Our full launch is still set for June, which is when OUYA will be available in stores!)

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of you will receive your OUYA, and you’ll get to start playing right away. You will also get to watch OUYA evolve over the coming weeks and months. We’ll continue to add new features, refine our user experience, and bring on more games. As always, we appreciate your feedback (and apply it), so keep it coming.

Keep a lookout in your inbox for an email from us. It will have your tracking number and estimated delivery date. Might take a few weeks to get to everyone. We have a lot of OUYAs to ship!

read rest here.

Whether it succeeds will come down to the price, the hardware specifications, and whether or not any games on the Android format can take advantage of the console controller.
