I've noticed that the crimson holoshield or the shield of gratitude are both pink unlike other vanities such as the arcane shield of legends so my question is why is this? Is there anything special about the pink vanities that set them apart from the rest of the vanities?

shield of gratitude seems pretty elite to me i wish i had it even though it does nothing
the light shield is elite cuz from when sl started

Isn't it because there wasn't originally a distinct vanity color? So some old ones got converted and some stayed pink? I honestly have no idea.

When sl started? It was given to people who paid for the main spine of the campaign before it became free

The Pocket Legend Shield and the Shield of Gratitude are pink because originally they were not vanities but shields with stats. They were converted because many people were complaining about the advantages they gave in low level PvP.
A quick history lesson:
PL Shield was present for many months before the gratitude shield. The gratitude shield only had stats for a few days before both shields were patched & became vanities.
PL Shield had 18 armor 10 health, it was a L1 pink with no requirements to wear.
Shield of Gratitude has 20 armor 10 health, also a L1 pink with no requirements to wear.
Elite dragon vanities are pink because they give stats, I believe.
