I am going to do an experiment to see if a casual player can have better luck than a hardcore farmer. I am going to run Rooftop Assault three times a day at random times, killing and breaking everything in it until I get Albino Bats. I will not set any timetable for getting them, so this thread can possibly last a very long time. Also, I will not quit playing if I don't get them in a reasonable amount of time. I will post an update here each night and mention whatever rares or vanities I get along the way.

If I am searching the wrong instance, then please post and tell me I am wrong and laugh at me. Will be back here tomorrow.

I would make this thread my starting chrome page because this try may last very long and it will make the thread go behind on the g discussions :/

I got two pinks, an eagle mask, a snake mask and a fire shard on my lvl18 alt, only did like 20-30 3D missions, seems I'm lucky on a low lvl char, lol. Nothing except orange desire top on main...

Day 1

As Ulrik split Karl Welt in two for the third time today, he ended the day without any Albino Bats. Although he did not get any Albino Bats, he received the following fabulous items:

Curved Daggers of Onset x2
Blood Chip of Haleness x7
Shadow Chip of Haleness x5
Great Slasher of Safety x3
Beast Chip of Onset x4
Gloom Shard of Safety x1

After selling these items, Ulrik was barely able to replace the blood packs he used for the day.

Check in tomorrow for another exciting update!

Day 2

Did not have time to make a list of what dropped today, but it was a mix of greens and whites similar to what dropped yesterday. I did die from a serious lag spike once and that got me the Coffin Blood achievement (what an achievement, I know). Anyway, no bats today.

Tune in again tomorrow for another exciting update!

Day 4

Still no bats, loot is pretty much the same as day one, so I will not post any loot unless it is pink or blue.

Tune in again tomorrow for another exciting update!

Thanks for the encouragement, this may just take 100 or more days, but if it is truly random, then there is as much chance or me getting the bats on my next run as there is of me getting the bats 10000 runs from now. We will see.

That's a random coincidence, carry on.

Day 6

The loot was especially craptacular today, but still no bats. Really, there is not much point in running dungeons more than once other than testing out the weapons my allies bring me. But I will keep at it.

Tune in tomorrow for another exciting update!

I'll speak up.

First off my experience with on the casual/hardcore style of play(will explain)... Keep at it! You will eventually get your bats!

I am considered a casual player... Less than 20(shooting high) hours a week of actual play time.

I am also considered a hardcore player... When there is something I want, I will spend my severely limited time going for nothing but that item.

From seeing other players woes on time spent and kills, along with developer's words on drops, yes I have been lucky, but also persistent! I am willing to bet you will get your bats sooner or later, although!

What has served me best in farming... Play a level for your level of tolerating the repetitiveness, switch to another item drop level you want, rinse repeat!

The more times you run one single level, your drop rate actually increases.. Not LUCK chance, just increases because of numbers of times run... And it still is all LUCK!

Gonna finish my thoughts now, long day at work and scatterbear'd right now lol!

Night all!

Unless there is a mechanic that makes it this way rather than a simple drop % chance, no your drop rate will not increase. If the drop rate is 0.01%, your chance of it dropping is 1 in 10,000 each and every time you enter that dungeon. You are no more likely to get it on yoour 10,000th run than you were on your 1st run. Yes, as you said earlier.. if you run enough, you will eventually get the item. But it could take 100,000 runs or more... or it may just take 1...

You are right, if running it once gives you a 1 in 10000 chance (example), then running it twice just gives you a 2 in 20000 chance, which are the same odds.

DAY 7

Aborting my quest. Sorry guys, too much real life stuff going on right now to spend my time trying to get Albino bats. I am not quitting, just going to play alot less for now. If I do get the bats some day, I will post it here.

I gave up myself and just switched to my second account that had the dark crusader bundle.. I actually liked the look of the dark bats better anyway, even though they are not exclusive.. I got the bundle on that account with the included 10 plat when everything was half price. Didn't want to spend real money on first account to get a bundle that I only liked the pet.. lol.

As long as I am happy with the look of my character, I don't need to be leet.. lol

I believe Wretch is referencing the idea of probability. The idea that say, chances in rolling an 11 on 2 dice is 15:1, after 15 rolls, probability states that the dice are going to turn up an 11 sometime very very soon. The longer you grind on a level, that probability window should continue to shrink, though the numbers actually stay the same.

I may be wrong though, good luck!

Each roll is a single event with 15:1 odds. Yes probability says that eventually you will roll that 11, but each roll the odds are the same... Lady Luck is a fickle mistress...

Assuming that the random number generator is working properly and that the maths are not funky you have 66.32991% chances of dropping the item after run 15.

This is known as the gambler's fallacy. Let's say you're walking through a Las Vegas casino, and you look up and see a roulette wheel where the winner has been red 17 (or 1700 or 17 million) times in a row. Your brain tells you that it has to be HUGE odds that the next one will be black. Wrong. Still have the same odds, 18/38 (because of the two green numbers).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambler%27s_fallacy

The fact that your mind insists that your odds have to be better because of the prior x number of outcomes makes the mafia, er casinos, *a lot* of money.
