@cinco Will the smuggler Rifle return at an upcoming event? or can we have one locked up that we can get? I see many novice players who cannot afford to buy a kraken rifle and a viable option it's smuggler (Elite zodias maps).

There are no plans for this item to return.

Not being able to afford the gold price to trade for a great item is only temporary.

Given time any "novice player" can learn to earn and save up enough gold to buy practically anything :-)
