Only if you're into gaming and am on a tight budget then you should go for the Nexus 7 as it costs Us$199(which is really cheap for a quad core tablet.)

General performance is already pretty good with spectular ragdoll and ripple effects, etc. displaying vibrantly on the Asus Nexus 7 with Tegra 3 enabled games.

Other than that, if you want a larger screen tablet that works as well as the Nexus 7 and is also Tegra 3 enabled, go for the Asus Transformer Prime.

I've both devices(Nexus 7 and Prime for dev. purposes) and I must say, both are pretty awesome although the former is better of the two as its more value for money. :)

iPad Mini is coming out this fall. It's going to have a 7" screen and rumor is that it will cost $249, although who knows for sure but price will certainly be much less than larger iPad. Graphics in the larger iPad are still worlds ahead of any other tablet on the market, so might want to wait until October to check it out.

The Nexus 7 is by-far one of my favorite devices. I think google did an amazing job with everything - plus it's made by Asus. I would highly suggest you get one and I'm pretty sure it would play PL considering the Kindle Fire does.

If you're looking for a tablet, the asus transformer is excellent. If you're looking for a phone, I have no idea

I don't have one because my parents don't want me having more tablets, but my friend has one and I'll ask him to see if he can download the .APK

It's flawless on mine, no lag even when using a cpu governor aimed towards battery life. Google really did well with the price, aiming to just get more people on android rather than making a profit.

@wound, I thought you hated android devices?

I'm playing PL on an Archos G9 A80 tablet with ICS (4.0.3) ; runs very smooth ...

Not guaranteed yet, and there hasn't been any definitive proofs that are alluding to the release of an "iPad Mini."

At the moment, I'd say your best bet is the nexus 7.

Yeah, there's been leaks of parts, etc. iPad Mini is coming and will be announced in October. All the "reliable" rumor sources (the ones who have been right 90+% of the time) have said so. It's already in production at this time.

I just bought a tablet for the first time, read lots of reviews and asked peoples opinions. The main thing I wanted one for was games, and in the end it game down to an Ipad 2/3 or a Google Nexus 7.

I decided on the Nexus due to it being at least £200 cheaper, most reviews point to it being an Ipad contender apart from the screen size, and at half the price you can't go wrong.

Am very pleased with it and it runs PL and SL very well. There is talk of an Ipad mini which if true will be a contender if not better, but if you keep waiting for the next tablet/technology to come out before buying you will never buy anything.

I agree that 7" seems to be the sweet spot for gaming. I play on my iPhone and on my girlfriend's iPad 2, and while the iphone is a bit small, the ipad is too big. I'm waiting for the iPad mini to come out as I think that will be the perfect size.

Alright i think i might get the nexus 7! Would you recommend 8GB or $50 more for 16GB? Thanks all!!!! You all helped me alot!

If it's mostly for gaming then no need for the extra 8 GB. Only thing you would need the extra memory for is if you like to keep lots of video on the device. I'm not sure what is available with android, but with iTunes they let you redownload video that you purchased in the past, so I find no need to get extra space since I can just add and delete as needed.

Just remember you can't add to the storage so if you can afford the extra 8gb I'd get it. 8gb isn't much as it is, but yeah if it is just for gaming you probably won't need the extra.

Drop an extra 50 and go with the 16 gigabytes. You might run into a space problem with only 8 and will regret it in the future! Happy birthday!
