Gem drops. Just a question

I'm wondering why the change in the color of the gem drops. Seems like the rarity of the gem itself is still indicated by the sparkles coming off. But now the gems are different colors. First time I saw one I thought it was some cool new vanity. Only to be let down by the white text that popped up on my screen.

They differentiate the gems type by it colors.
Red = blood gem
Purple = shadow gem
Blue = moon gem
Yellow = beast gem

My thought, that would be great if they differentiate the Socialite Top and gamer top too:)

What Siri said, it's a reflection of the type of gem, and not just the rarity and a random gem look. For players on the hunt for a new Beast gem being able to quickly see that it's a blood gem common may help them carry on instead of picking it up etc. It's just a visual distinction that is more apparent while playing instead of browsing your inventory.
