Fish rod

As I read it, our fishing rod should act as a weapon against the Captain. I lost bait trying that, went to my skills instead. Intended or no?

Bait should not be consumed when using the rod to attack. I'll verify this.

But with rod we can't aim auto/manual atk on boss. N wirh hoards of players surrounding boss we can't see boss to know how near we are at him to hit him with the rod or if we are hitting him at all. I hv Show Damage Done ticked but i couldn't see any dmg done at all so does that mean i did not managed to it him at all all those runs?
