I think the game would benefit from equipment that had special stats/purpose.
For instance, equipment that increases your chances of a re-roll/legendary drop, equipment that increases the amount of gold you receive from kills, equipment that increases your range, etc.
I think the easiest way to do this would be to add in an additional random stat to new gear (e.g., +10% chance of re-roll, + 5% more gold per kill, etc.).
This would allow people to make gold farming characters, farming characters, special pvp characters, etc. I'm sure there are countless others.
It would add a lot more complexity and a whole new dimension to the game.
