So I just logged in after very long break and not nothing looks familiar to me. What did I miss? Would somebody mind filling me in?

Sorry, I shall explain more thoroughly now.

We went from Sewers->Nuri->Mount Fang->Humania and at Humania we got a plat-per-run dungeon and a bunch of bonus dungeons.
Elite Persistence items give stats, Dragon Vanities also gave stats as a set (those were released in Mount Fang) and new item rarity (above pink) is called Elite.

Depends on what level you are currently.
It's more a factor of Platinum than Gold these days.
If you have Platinum, the 2X Week-Long Elixir stacked with the 4X Combo (includes 4X EXP) and the probable Enable XP Access Elixir can get you from whatever level you are currently to the endgame 70 in a day or two.

To be elite u gotta be a pvper and be good at it (although i can't really tell who is good now, sets are so op and luck based that anyone can be good in an instant)

the days of elite pve players like Physiologic and others are gone

Otherwise buy some plat haha :-)
