have you experienced any natural disasters?
right now in new zealand (south island) there was a major earthquake at 4am in the morning. i woke up to this huge shaking and thunderous sound and everything falling off tables. i don't get scared easily but omfg this scared the living bejesus out of me. i was praying to god and the scary thing was the thought that this was how i was going to die if the quake got any stronger. luckily my house was recently built and not that old so it didn't collapse. however, some older houses did collapse and fortunately no one was killed but some are in critical condition. it was a magnitude of 7.1 and to some people, this might not seem as big of a number. it lasted 2 minutes approximately and there have been little minor quakes since then even though 13 hours has passed.
i just hope nothing terrible is going to happen.
yea some of you will be going, 'psh! that's not scary at all.' but trust me. when you wake up and a ****ing earthquake hits you... watch out.
one lesson i learnt - never **** with nature.

So your saying if you were hit by a car it would be alright for your sister to laugh at you?

getting hit by a car could result in death.
you can't die if your arm gets broken. that is a very weird comparison.

The house we lived in in college burned down. We all made it out alive which considering the circumstances with the smoke pouring out of vents was definitely against the odds. If we were asleep for 60 seconds more we would have never woken up.

At the time it is just an adrenalin rush. It's not till later that you realize how close you came to game over that it starts to really freak you out. Can't tell you how long after that I would jump up in bed every time I thought I heard an alarm, mostly imaginary.

I was blocked from the computer for a month... Does that count as a disaster?lol

Btw a real disaster that I experienced, was when i was camping with the troop (in boyscouts) it was POURING down rain and there was a tornado that hit the ground less than 5 miles away from our camp site, so we had to take down our tents in the pouring rain and drive to a hotel (that is the first and only time we ever went to a hotel as a troop). And on the way to the nearest town (with a hotel) we saw lightning strike the ground on the road, less than 30 feet in front of us, fortunately for us, it was the left side of the road.
True story.

This was the most frightening time in my life.
