I left...and I came back, and AoA is gone according to several people. Anyone care to explain?

Yup. All original AoA's were wiped from the guild and group and its gradually growing again. AoA needed a "restart" according to Airrie.

Doesn't seem like much of a "restart". I think the old group was more active.

Yes.. We do plan parties as well as help newbies. The parties usually have a quiz of some sort or "trivia", and possibly some giveaways :)

They had some contests, I think. They don't hang around giving out hats anymore. Pity! I thought the hat as a "welcome wagon" gift was a great touch.

I was in the guild before the wipe. The only reason I could think for the wipe was because some original ambassadors were ticked off because they couldn't prevent the mod who took over leadership from appointing someone who was very obvious in wanting to be appointed. It was felt by many that one should be more subtle, I guess. The ticked off ambassadors somehow got under the skin of the mod who took over from the original mod who created it, so he went on vacation and came back and disbanded the Ambassadors. He also de-activated the hats that gave out gift hats. After a month of non-activity, he took new applications. Then a month or two later, he quit working for the moderator rental agency that STS uses. The torch was passed to a different mod.

I chose not to re-apply. I did not consider the action of disbandment to be something that furthered community spirit, to put it mildly. I could not understand how the devs who I thought I knew would permit it. So I can't tell you anything much about the new guild.

Well I obviously wasn't reading those threads. News to me! That is a little strange (to put it mildly) considering the importance STS had put on the AoA program in the past.

He deactivated the hats? Shoulda run em outta town on a rail! Can the hats be reactivated to give the AoA's a sense of purpose again?

I should have mentioned that I was not one of the people who were upset about appointing someone who was obvious about wanting to join. Politicians are subtle all the time. I'd rather see eager people doing it.

The hats went away and they were thinking of another sort of Ambassador vanity. There was a contest, but the winning idea got turned into the angelic gear. The winning idea was to have Ambassador in big winged outfits (so you could see them easily) and they would give out little wings. But it's way cooler that it became the angelic gear!!!

Fluff might be kidding, but I really did think the hats were fun! It made people want to be ambassadors, and made them want to hang out in FH once they were appointed, and it opened the door for shy people to ask questions.

Thanks for the additions, seeing it from your perspective/the way it happened, I can relate somewhat as to the dev/current Ao's. (Experience with appointing mod/GM's while also trying to reason with the Devs/Players to ensure the positions are not taken too "lightly" is pretty difficult and even more so depending on the numbers oposing or overall total within that team. (@Given to anyone that wants it)

That said, from the feedback of why Ao program worked previously, this could have surely ended with a better result than rinse - restart. (Previous members feeling let down/betrayed somewhat)

Done now, new dev, new beginning. All you can do is hope they bring back the fun that has been taken away from the position. (Nothing like given a fun reason to do something > Chore)

The reason you don't see many of us is because there arent many of us in the first place. We are accepting recruits often, so if you think you have what it takes, send in an application :)

I didn't get in when I applied the first time, so its obviously a fail guild. Its science. Don't argue.

It's not what it used to be, but reformed.

Some, I think shouldn't be in there, as they tend to lose their emotions rather easily in PvP & thus can have a bad affect on the image of AoA, but each to his/her own.

I still believe that the original group was the best, as it was more active, seemed to be more mature, and more helpful in general.

Well, I must admit, ever since the new AoA program started there has been a lot more events/contests going on.

Then again...I don't think it's actually the ambassadors organizing them, but actually the mods. (correct me if i'm wrong)

P.S. sorry if i'm wrong ^^

The ambassadors do come up with the contests in the private forum. Once the details of a contest have been ironed out I will post the contest thread for public view.

Also, right now we have about 20 AoA's. We are slowly recruiting more members into the group. Since there are only a few members there is less of a chance of seeing one in game.

We do make up all the contests an events.
Be prepared for a Halloween contest SOON !! :)

I was one of the several founding members of the first AoA generation.

There is a reason I chose to not re-apply.
There is a reason why many have gone along with me with this same agreement.
There's a reason why the guild disbanded in the first place.
It's a dark history that's been buried in the past; you can go dig it up if you want.
