Hi guys, I haven’t played the game in 5+ years and I’m looking to get back into it. However, I’m not sure if I should focus on mage or rogue for getting to 86. What are the pros and cons of each class? And for each class, what’s the best passive pet, and stat/ability egg, ty!

Firstly, welcome back. Feel free to add Vaughty in game and ask away. I recently came back to the game and the learning curve was rough for me.
To summarize my learning curve experience with the state of Arcane Legends, you either need cash to buy stuff in game, or people to carry you late game when you’re trying to get geared. Level 1-70 is fairly simple, late game gearing requires getting carried or buying play from my experience. If anyone disagrees, ask them when they got back to the game.
So far I’ve gotten a mage to. 86, a warrior to 84, and I had a hard core rogue just for kicks to like mid twenties before I got bored of it. To keep it short, I suggest mage.
Mage is probably the most versatile class. You can build it around single target boss damage, AOE mob destruction, or some sort of hybrid. I prefer crowd control so I basically maxed fireball out plus masteries and use clock, gale for movement speed buff, and shield (mandatoryish). Mage is the most useful class with terrible gear, which means you can absolutely be helpful even with really poor gear. Curse is insanely helpful and isn’t affected by gear. Heal is very nice and if charged, you’ll likely full heal anyone regardless of your armor. Gale will also continue to give you movement speed or armor buffs depending on how you set it up, and clock will continue to provide crowd control.
Aside from skills, it’s also typically less expensive and easier to find gear for mage. Warrior is probably the least played, which also tends to have the least supply of gear with good awakenings. Rogue gear is usually in stock at the auction, but might be pricier. I don’t play rogue enough to pay attention to that though, so keep an open mind with that feedback.
Assuming you went mage, I’d suggest fireball, clock, gale, shield since potions are fairly inexpensive and you get a good amount while leveling. The movement speed is helpful if you don’t have any MS buffs or gear. You could always swap gale and its movement speed buff for heal though.
I’d also make some in game friends asap, makes life easier. Also join a decent guild. I won’t imply that you join the one I’m in (Ripped), but look around and find a helpful group of people to game with.
